Aqua, a former mermaid, washes up on a beach stripped of her identity and forced into a world she does not understand. She tries to start a new life in Bryn’s family resort, but she is met with cruelty from Kieran, who mocks her for her size and the secrets she hides. 

Aqua finds some comfort in Finn, who is gentle with her and helps her build herself up again. When the truth of her mermaid past is exposed, Aqua must choose to either stay with the humans she has grown to accept and love or head back to the depths that she calls her home.
