Athena’s POV
“You should have knocked, Luna. Or are you here to watch?”
Her voice dripped like silk soaked in venom—smug, amused—as she perched naked atop my husband, shamelessly flaunting their bodies and their sin.
I stood frozen in the doorway, my body rigid, my stomach twisting violently. The dim candlelight flickered against the stone walls, casting eerie shadows over the bed—our bed—where my husband lay entangled with another woman.
Alpha Eryndor didn’t even flinch.
His muscular arms rested behind his head, his chiseled chest bare, a lazy smirk stretching across his lips as he gazed at me like I was nothing more than an unwanted intruder.
Like I was the one who didn’t belong here.
My hands clenched into fists at my sides. I should’ve expected this. It wasn’t the first time I had caught him in the arms of another woman, but never like this. Never this bold. This unapologetic.
A bitter laugh crawled up my throat, but I swallowed it down.
“How long?” My voice came out steadier than I felt. “How long have you been bringing her into our chambers?”
"The woman stretched like a cat before slipping off him, settling beside Eryndor with a satisfied sigh, her nails trailing lazily down his chest. She wasn’t ashamed—why would she be? She had nothing to lose.
Eryndor scoffed, finally sitting up. “Oh, don’t act so righteous, Athena. You’ve always been a placeholder.”
A placeholder.
I forced myself to breathe, though my lungs burned. “If you hate me so much, then just reject me, Eryndor. You have that power.”
His lips curled, his piercing silver eyes locking onto mine. “And give my father the satisfaction of knowing he forced me into a marriage with a weak, useless woman? No, thanks.”
